Maxi Woodworks did a great job for us, creating a large, one-piece mantle with matching, floating shelves and cabinet tops. They chose beautiful wood, used a finish to give us the color we wanted, and completed the project on schedule with fine craftsmanship. Will work with them again as the need arises.

The finish on my table top had failed under normal use. I found Maxi Woodworks on line and gave them a try. Max did the research to find a product that would meet my needs. Max did a beautiful job to recover my table top surface and apply a beautiful and durable finish. Max is now my go to resource for all things wood.

Max is great to work with. He flattened a bunch of slabs for me and I was so pleased with his work that we ended up doing 3 full tables. His inlays are top tier, his work really made the tables into pieces of art! Excellent communication and he always does everything he says and more. I highly recommend working with him.

I needed a long, low bookcase, but I wanted it to look like a credenza. I met with several local artisans. Max and Rick stood out with both the technical skill and artistic enthusiasm to do it well at a reasonable price. They did a meticulous job building it, down to the beveling of the top and hardware for the sliding doors. They worked for hours to get the stain color just right for the room. And now it looks like it's always been here. Perfect!

We hired Max to refinish a redwood bench for the Sonoma County Airport Terminal Project. To say he exceeded expectations is an understatement. Max was clear and transparent with pricing. He communicate constantly and ensured we met schedule. The finish product was absolutely beautiful and he included maintenance instructions to ensure the health of the bench. I contacted Max to help me with resizing a wooden shower floor base for my corner shower kit. Not only did he saw off the edges to fit the size of my mapping, but he also went above and beyond by sanding and refinishing the raw wood to be smooth & color-matched for me! He took on this task during his busy schedule of other work projects. That shows how much he truly values his customers and his craftsmanship. I strongly recommend Max for any carpentry work as his level of knowledge is top notch! I will be a return customer and will also refer him to anyone I know! Thank you, Max!!

Max and his father are an awesome team and were extremely helpful in leveling a large walnut slab I had. Not only did they do a great job, but they squeezed me in immediately on short notice to cnc down a quarter inch of epoxy. The machine did in 45 minutes what would have taken me days making a router sled. They let me stick around and watch, gave me some tips and advice, and Max even texted me to let me borrow a tool if I needed it. Great local spot, reasonable pricing, and I highly recommend them. Either have them make you some furniture, or let them help you in your own project.

Maxwell et al., are awesome! They are custom woodworkers a cut above the rest! I’ve asked them to do two projects for us. A floating vanity and shelves for our new bathroom; then two cabinets and shelves for the living room. They take care of everything from measurements, designs, manufacture, and install. They were incredibly communicative throughout the project and provided us with a product above and beyond we were expecting. Their attention to detail, knowledge, and experience really shows being able to work in these old San Francisco homes. Thank you again. We’ll surely have projects for them in the future!

Max is an extraordinary designer and craftsman. He worked closely with us to design pieces that suited our aesthetic and our space. He took our vague ideas and made them a better reality than we could have imagined. He is a joy to work with, has great design sense and a feel for (as well as great sources for) beautiful materials. The pieces are meticulously crafted and will last a lifetime. We have commissioned 3 pieces from Max: a console table made from a fallen walnut tree on our property (Max held the trunk for nearly a year while the wood cured), coffee table, and a dining room table with benches. We could never have found anything like these pieces at retail— I know , I looked! Max took our very basic ideas, improved and refined them, and created a perfect living space of our dreams. Everyone who visits our house wants to know where we got such beautiful, original pieces. Max’s designs are clean, with subtle elements that you don’t see but feel, such as a slight “give” in the bench backs and a subtle curve in the seats, both of which make the benches extraordinarily comfortable. You don’t expect comfort and beauty to come together in this way, but Max managed it. Max will work hard to earn your business, and you will be so glad you chose him.
